Small Behavioral Health Counseling (SBHC) is a private mental health practice that provides psychotherapy (Talk Therapy), diagnostic and treatment services to adolescents and adults ages 12 and up with mental, emotional and behavioral needs.
SBHC does not provide or prescribe medication.
Currently, due to COVID-19 all services are provided via telehealth for Ohio residents. Once the state positions itself for in-person visits, sessions can be held at the office located in Akron, OH, in the home, school and community throughout Stark, Summit, Medina and Cuyahoga County.
Our experience enables us to offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychotherapy In a variety of settings. We treat a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals dealing with mood and thinking disorders.
Our focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by listening to your concerns and customizing a treatment plan which acts as a guide to help you reach your goals.

Takiyah Small is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and the Owner/Clinical Director of SBHC. Takiyah graduated and earned her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Human Development from Walsh University in 2017. She also earned her Masters in Business Administration from Walsh in 2015. Takiyah‘s passion is to help and serve others. Her experience includes but is not limited to working with high risk youth and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance, maladaptive behavior, disruptive mood, and thinking disorders. She specializes in treating individuals with suicidal ideation, major depression, anxiety, low self- esteem, family and relationship conflict, and behavioral challenges. Takiyah utilizes a variety of techniques to help her clients reach their goals, by working to increase awareness and by implementing a holistic approach- Mind, Body, and Spirit. She believes that neglecting one or the other equals partial results. Takiyah incorporates theoretical approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to name a few. All of which to get her clients where they want to be.
